ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Solfege

Solfege is a fun way to sing songs. It helps you learn the different notes in a song and how they sound.

Imagine you have a big bag of candy. Each candy is a different color and flavor. Solfege is like giving each candy a special name so it's easy to remember which one is which.

In solfege, there are seven special names. They go like this: "Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do."

These names tell you which note to sing in a song. So when you're singing a song, you can use solfege to figure out which note to sing next.

For example, if you're singing "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and you want to sing the "twinkle" part, you would use solfege to figure out which notes to sing. It goes like this: "Do, Sol, Sol, La, Sol, Fa, Mi."

So solfege helps you learn how to sing songs, just like candy names help you remember what is what in your big bag of candy.
