Solid is a state of matter, like gas and liquid. In the solid state, atoms and molecules are packed closely together, so the particles don't move around and the substance stays the same shape. Solid materials don't flow like liquids or gases, and can't be squeezed into different shapes, so they're hard and sturdy. A solid can stay the same shape and size if you move it or pick it up, because the particles stick to each other so tightly. An ice cube is a good example of a solid!
