Solifluction

Solifluction is when the ground moves very slowly downhill because it is frozen on top but there is liquid underneath (sort of like when chocolate hardens on top of ice cream, but the ice cream below is still soft).

When the dirt and rocks slide down the hill, they create a little ramp or slope, which makes it easier for more dirt and rocks to slide down. This can happen over many years and can make big changes to the landscape.

Solifluction mostly happens in really cold places like the Arctic and Antarctic, but it can happen in other places too if the conditions are right.
