ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sophistical Refutations

Sophistical refutations are ways of trying to prove something is wrong or not true. For example, if you say "I'm the best player on the baseball team" and someone wanted to prove you are wrong, they might use a sophistical refutation. They might say things like "there is no way to measure who the best player is on the baseball team," or "there is no proof that you are the best player." This would be a sophistical refutation because it is trying to show that you are wrong without actually proving it.
