Sound trademark

A sound trademark is a special type of trademark that uses a sound instead of a name, logo, or symbol to identify a product or service. For example, NBC's chime sound that plays in between shows is a sound trademark. Companies use sound trademarks so that people can easily recognize their products and services, just like if they see a big golden "M" they will know it belongs to McDonald's.
