Southside Community Land Trust

Okay kiddo, have you heard of a trust before? No, not the one you play games with, a trust is when someone gives money or land to be used for a special purpose, like helping people or protecting the environment.

The Southside Community Land Trust is a special trust that helps people in a certain area called the Southside community. This area is in the city of Providence, in Rhode Island.

So, what does this trust do exactly? Well, it helps people by giving them a place to grow their own food! The Southside Community Land Trust has lots of pieces of land, called community gardens, where people can grow fruits and vegetables.

These community gardens are really special because not everyone has their own yard or space to grow things. Some people in the Southside community live in apartments where they don't have any outside space at all. By having these community gardens, everyone has the chance to grow their own food, learn about gardening, and eat healthy.

But the Southside Community Land Trust doesn't just help with gardening, they also have classes and programs that help people learn and improve their gardening skills. They work with schools and community groups to teach kids and families about gardening too!

Isn't that neat? Imagining being able to grow your own food and learn about how things grow! The Southside Community Land Trust is doing a great job of helping their community in a really special way.
