Long long ago, there was a big land called South America. There were lots of different groups of people living there, and one group was called the Incas. They had a big empire with lots of gold and treasures.
One day, some people came from far away. They were called the Spanish. They had big ships and guns and horses. The Spanish wanted to take over the Inca empire and take all their gold and treasures.
At first, the Inca people tried to make friends with the Spanish. They gave them presents and treated them like guests. But the Spanish didn't want to be friends. They wanted to be the boss.
The Spanish started using their weapons to attack the Inca people. The Incas fought back, but they didn't have the same weapons as the Spanish. They also didn't know the land as well as the Spanish did.
Soon, the Spanish started to win battles and take over Inca cities. They captured the Inca leader, Atahualpa, and held him for ransom. The Incas tried to pay the ransom, but the Spanish didn't keep their promise and killed Atahualpa anyway.
Without their leader, the Incas were lost. The Spanish continued to take over the Inca empire, destroying their temples and taking all their gold and treasures. Many Inca people died from diseases that the Spanish brought with them.
In the end, the Spanish conquered the Inca empire and became very rich. The Inca people were forced to follow the Spanish ways and their own culture was lost. It was a sad time in history for the Inca people.
