ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Spat (angular unit)

So imagine you want to share your pizza slices with your friends. You could divide it into halves or quarters, right? Well, a spat is like a super tiny piece of the pizza that you can divide it into when you need to be very precise.

Now, let's talk about how we measure angles. Imagine you want to draw a circle on a paper. You start from a point and draw around it until you end up back where you started. The angle you drew is a full circle, which we call 360 degrees.

But what if you want to measure smaller angles, like if you only drew a quarter of a circle? We could divide a circle into smaller pieces, like 180 degrees (half a circle) or 90 degrees (a quarter of a circle).

A spat is an even smaller unit of angle measurement. It's equal to 1/60th of a degree (which is already a small angle!) and is used in fields where precision is really important, like astronomy or navigation.

So, a spat is like a tiny slice of pizza that helps us measure really small angles. Yum!
