Spectroheliograph

A spectroheliograph is a special tool used to see the sun in a different way. Instead of just looking at how bright it is, we can use this tool to see what colors it is made up of!

Think about how you might see a rainbow after it rains. The colors of the rainbow are all the different colors that make up white light. With a spectroheliograph, we can see what colors make up the light from the sun!

This tool works kind of like a camera. It focuses the light coming from the sun onto a special detector that can separate the colors of the light. Then, it takes pictures of the different colors separately.

Scientists can use these pictures to learn all sorts of things about the sun. They can see what elements, like hydrogen and helium, the sun is made up of. They can also see how hot different parts of the sun are, and how material moves around on its surface.

So, a spectroheliograph helps us see the sun in a different way and learn new things about it!
