ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sprigging

Sprigging is like making more of a plant by using its own parts. Just like how we can make copies of pictures or pages by using a copy machine, plants can make copies of themselves too!

When we sprig a plant, we take a little piece of it, usually a part called a "sprig" or a stem, and we plant it in the ground. The sprig has some special cells inside it that help it grow roots and leaves all on its own.

After a while, the sprig will start to grow new roots and leaves and become its very own plant, just like the original plant it was taken from. This is a great way to make more plants to fill in a garden or grow more food. Plus, it's a way to keep plants going even if the original plant gets old or sick.
