Stage Coaches Act 1790

Ok kiddo, so a long long time ago, before cars and airplanes were invented, people had to travel long distances using horses and carts.

Now imagine a big, fancy cart with a roof and seats for people to sit in. That's called a stage coach. And back in 1790, the government made a law called the "Stage Coach Act" to make sure that stage coach companies were safe and fair to their customers.

The law said that stage coaches had to have strong wheels, good brakes, and not carry too many people or too much luggage. The companies also had to have a proper license and follow rules on how much they could charge people for the ride.

This was important because stage coach travel was a big deal back then, and people needed to be sure they could trust the companies they were paying to take them safely from place to place.

So, the Stage Coach Act made sure that the stage coaches were as safe and reliable as possible, and that people could trust the companies running them. That way, everyone could travel with ease and comfort!
