Standard normal deviate

Standard normal deviate is a way of measuring how different one number is from the average. It measures how many standard deviations away the number being tested is from the average. For example, if the average height of people in a room is 5 feet tall and one person is 6 feet tall, that person is one standard normal deviate away from the average height.
