ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Staple food

Staple food is food that you eat a lot of every day. Just like how you might eat a lot of apples or carrots, staple food is something people in a community or region eat a lot of. Usually, staple foods are easy to find, affordable, and can keep you full for a long time. Some examples of staple food are rice, beans, potatoes, bread, and corn. Different countries have different staple foods. For example, in Japan, people eat a lot of rice, while in America, people eat a lot of bread. It's important to eat a variety of healthy foods, but staple food is something you can always rely on to fill you up and give you energy.
