Star of Ishtar

Okay kiddo, so imagine a very very big and bright ball of hot gas up in the sky. This is called a star. The Star of Ishtar is not just any ordinary star but it’s a special one that was important to people who lived a long long time ago in a place called Mesopotamia.

You see, these people believed that the Star of Ishtar was the symbol of a powerful goddess named Ishtar. They thought that her special star could bring good luck, love, and protection.

People who worshipped Ishtar would look up at the sky and see the Star of Ishtar shining bright in the night sky. They would pray to Ishtar and ask her for help and protection. They even named a big city after her called Uruk and built a big temple to worship her.

So the Star of Ishtar is not just a pretty light in the sky, but it’s actually a very important symbol to some people who lived a long long time ago.
