Stargazy pie

Stargazy pie is a pie from a village in Cornwall, England. The pie is made with fish, usually pilchards, and has little heads sticking out of the pastry.

The reason the heads stick out is because of a story about a fisherman who saved his village from starvation. During a bad storm, he went out to catch some fish, and when he came back, he made a pie from what he had caught. The fish all looked up at the stars through the pastry, which is why it's called Stargazy pie.

The pie is usually made with potatoes, eggs, and onions, and sometimes has bacon or cream in it too. The fish are cleaned and gutted, but the heads are still on when they're cooked, which makes it look like they're looking up at the stars.

People in Cornwall love Stargazy pie and have a big festival every year to celebrate it. If you ever visit Cornwall, you should try some Stargazy pie too!
