Stations of the Exodus

Okay kiddo, did you know that a long, long time ago, there was a group of people called the Israelites who lived in Egypt? But they were not free, they were slaves to Pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt.

One day, a man named Moses, who was also an Israelite, led his people out of Egypt to go to a new land that God had promised them. This journey is called the Exodus, and it lasted for 40 years in the desert.

During this time, the Israelites stopped at different places along the way to rest, get food and water, and receive guidance from God through Moses. These stops are called the Stations of the Exodus or the campsites of the Israelites.

There were a total of 42 stations, but the Bible only gives an exact description of 14 of them. The first station was called Rameses, which is where the Israelites lived before leaving Egypt. The final station was in the plains of Moab, which is where Moses passed away.

Some of the other stations had important events happen there, like crossing the Red Sea, where God parted the water so the Israelites could walk through. They also received the Ten Commandments from God at Mount Sinai.

So, the Stations of the Exodus are like a map of where the Israelites traveled during their journey to the promised land. They remind us of the challenges the Israelites faced, but also of God's faithfulness and provision to them.
