ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Stellar rotation

Stellar rotation is when a star spins on its axis, just like a spinning top or a toy that has been thrown into the air. A star rotates because it formed from a large cloud of gas and dust in space that started spinning, so it keeps on spinning as it gets bigger and bigger. The stars also have different rates of rotation, with some spinning faster than others. This causes the stars to look different from different angles, so you can see different parts of them!
