Stephan Bibrowski was a man who was born in 1890 in Poland. He was born with a condition called hypertrichosis, which means he had lots and lots of hair all over his body, including his face. This made him look like a hairy monster!
When Stephan was a baby, his mother and father were scared and didn't know what to do, so they gave him to a circus. The circus people were interested in Stephan's condition and they made him a part of their show.
Stephan became famous and people all over the world wanted to see him. He traveled to different countries and appeared in shows, where people would pay to see him because he looked so different.
Stephan also had a nickname - "Lion Man" - because he looked like a lion with his big mane of hair. He eventually retired from the circus and died in 1932.
Though some people may have been mean to Stephan because of his appearance, he had a lot of fans who loved and respected him. Stephan's story helps us remember that it's important to treat everyone with kindness and respect, no matter how they look or what their condition may be.
