ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Stream of unconsciousness (narrative mode)

So, imagine your brain is a really long, twisty slide. When you think about things or tell a story, you go down the slide and tell each part in order, right? But sometimes when we write or talk, we just let our thoughts go down the slide in any order they want. It's like the slide is mixed up and jumbled, and different things pop up without us really planning it.

That's what stream of consciousness is. It's when we don't think or talk in a straight line, but instead let our thoughts flow out in a jumbled, unfiltered way. So, when we read something written in this style, it can be hard to follow because it's not always in a clear order - just like if you went down a really jumbled slide! But it can also be really interesting because we get to see the way someone's mind works and all the different thoughts they have, even if they don't all make sense together.
