Stretching

Stretching means making your body parts straight and long to help your muscles become strong and flexible. Think of your muscles like rubber bands- if they are tight and hard, they won't stretch very far. But if they are warm and flexible, they can stretch a lot without breaking!

When you stretch, your muscles get longer and your joints move more easily. This helps you be able to move around better and possibly prevent you from getting hurt.

A common way to stretch is to reach for your toes, or bend one leg up and hold it close to your chest. You can also do things like yoga or Pilates which focus a lot on stretching.

Remember, stretching can sometimes feel a bit uncomfortable at first, but it shouldn't hurt. Also, it's important to make sure you don't overstretch or push your body too hard- just like with everything else, moderation is important.
