ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Strikebreaker

Okay kiddo, so imagine you and your friends really like playing a game together. But one day some of your friends don't want to play the game anymore, so they decide to stop playing and stay home.

But you and your other friends still really like playing the game and want to keep playing. So you look for someone else to come play with you.

That's kinda like what a strikebreaker is.

When workers are unhappy about something at their job, they might decide to stop working as a way to get their boss to listen to them and make things better.

But sometimes the boss doesn't want to listen to what the workers are saying and they need someone else to do the work. So the boss might hire other people to come in and work instead of the workers who are on strike.

These new people who come in to work while others are on strike are called strikebreakers. It's like they are breaking the strike by taking the jobs of the workers who aren't there.

Sometimes people think strikebreakers are unfair because the workers who were originally doing the job might still be unhappy and they might not get what they want.

Does that make sense?
