ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Strut (typesetting)

Strut (typesetting) is when you line up pieces of text in a certain way on a page. For example, it can be used to make sure all the words in a sentence are the same height, or to make sure that all the letters on a line of text are the same distance away from each other. It makes texts easier to read, because when everything is lined up it looks more organized.
