ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sub-bass

Sub-bass is the very low, deep and powerful sound that can be felt in your chest when listening to music. It's like a big, loud, buzzing vibration that makes your body shake.

Think of it like a big truck driving by your house. You can hear the loud engine noise, but you can also feel the ground vibrating under your feet. That's kind of what sub-bass is like.

It's made up of really low frequency sound waves that are too low for our ears to hear clearly, but we can still feel them. These waves come from special instruments, like bass guitars and synthesizers, and they can be really important in some types of music, like hip hop or electronic music.

Sub-bass is often used to create a sense of power or intensity in music. It can make you feel like you're in the middle of something really exciting, or it can make you feel really relaxed and calm.

So when you're listening to your favorite songs, try to pay attention to the deep, rumbling sounds that you feel in your body. That's sub-bass!
