Well kiddo, have you ever seen a volcano on land that spits out hot lava and ash? A subaqueous volcano is kind of like that, but it's under the water instead of on land!
Sometimes, there are volcanoes at the bottom of the ocean, and even though we can't always see them, they can still do some pretty cool (and sometimes dangerous) things.
You know how sometimes when you shake up a bottle of soda and then pop the top, it sprays out? Well, sometimes with subaqueous volcanoes, the pressure builds up under the water until it bubbles and spews out like a big soda explosion. Only instead of soda, it’s hot magma!
The magma can create new land as it cools and builds up, and it can also create new islands if enough magma builds up over time. But because these volcanoes are under the water, it also means that they can be hard to spot and can even cause tsunamis if there's a big enough eruption!
So while subaqueous volcanoes may be hidden under the waves, they're still pretty impressive and powerful forces of nature. And even though they might not always be on our radar, it's important to keep an eye on them and stay safe if they start acting up!
