Okay kiddo, have you ever seen a really big ice cube? Well imagine if that ice cube was as big as a whole mountain! That's what a glacier is - a big icy mountain that moves really slowly.
Now, sometimes underneath a glacier, there are places where the ice isn't as thick. It might be because there's a rock or hill down there, or maybe a stream of water. But whatever the reason, it means that the ice on top can kind of sag down and create a little bump or hill.
That bump or hill underneath the glacier is called a subglacial mound. It's kind of like a pimple, but instead of being on your face, it's under a bunch of ice!
Scientists study these mounds because they can tell us a lot about how glaciers move and change over time. They're like clues that help us understand what's going on underneath all that ice.
