ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Subjective Refraction

Subjective refraction is like a game at the eye doctor's office. The doctor asks you to look at some letters or pictures on a chart and adjust some lenses to make them clearer. It's kind of like playing with a toy that has different shapes and sizes that you can switch out to make it fit just right. The doctor wants to find the right prescription for your eyes so that you can see things more clearly. Sometimes it takes a few tries, but once the doctor finds the right lenses, you'll be able to see much better!
