ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Subordinator (mathematics)

A subordinator in mathematics is a special kind of equation. It's like a picture puzzle where you have to figure out what goes in the blank spaces. You have to start by figuring out what the numbers in the equation add up to. Then, you try to fill in the blanks with numbers that satisfy the equation. For example, if you have an equation with two blanks, one plus one equals two, you can fill in the blanks with the numbers one and one.
