Substantive due process

Substantive due process is a term used in the law to make sure that laws are fair and protect people's rights. It means that laws have to have a good reason for why they exist and must be fair. It also helps to make sure that the government can't pass laws that hurt people without good reason. An example of when substantive due process is used is if the government tried to pass a law that said people with red hair were not allowed to vote. This would not be fair and would go against the rights of people with red hair, so the law would not pass according to substantive due process.
