ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sufficiency of disclosure

Okay, imagine you have a really cool toy that you really love. But, one day, your friend comes over and asks you how to play with it. If you just say, "You just play with it!" that's not very helpful. You need to tell them more about the toy and how it works.

In the same way, when someone invents something, they need to explain how it works and how someone else can make it. This is called "disclosure." If they don't explain it well enough, it's not fair to other people who might want to use the invention too.

So, sufficiency of disclosure is a fancy term that means the inventor has to explain their invention well enough so that someone else could make it too. If they don't explain it well enough, their patent (special legal protection for their invention) could be thrown out.

Just like you have to explain to your friend how to play with your toy, the inventor has to explain their invention so other people can use it too.
