Suffrage for Americans with disabilities

Okay, so you know how everyone should have the opportunity to vote and have a say in who they want to be the boss of the country, right? Well, there used to be a time when people with disabilities, like if they couldn't see, hear or move like everybody else, were not allowed to vote just because of that reason.

But, adults with disabilities are just like everybody else and they should have the chance to vote too! So, in 1990, the US government passed a law called the Americans with Disabilities Act which said that people with disabilities cannot be discriminated against, which means they can't be treated unfairly just because they have a disability.

This law also included a rule that polling places, where people go to vote, have to be accessible, which means everyone can get in and vote no matter their abilities. This helped people with disabilities vote more easily and have their voices heard.

So now, people with disabilities have the right to vote just like anybody else, and it's important that everyone's voice is heard, no matter what their abilities are.
