Sukkah City

Sukkah City is like building a really cool fort or clubhouse outside. Except, it's not just any fort or clubhouse - it's a special one that Jewish people build during a holiday called Sukkot. This holiday happens in the fall, and it celebrates the time when Jewish people traveled through the desert a long, long time ago.

So, during Sukkot, Jewish people build these special outdoor structures called Sukkahs. They're kind of like a cross between a tent and a treehouse. These Sukkahs are built with special rules - like they have to have a roof made out of some kind of plant materials (like leaves or branches), and they can only have three walls, with the fourth wall left open.

Now, Sukkah City is a special contest that was held in New York City a few years ago. People from all over the world were invited to design their own Sukkahs, and then build them in a special park in the middle of New York City. Lots of really talented architects and designers made some really cool structures, like a Sukkah that looked like a big giant egg, or one that looked like a wheel.

The Sukkah City contest was really cool because it showed how creative people can be when they work within certain rules to create something special. Plus, it was a great way for people of all different backgrounds to learn about Jewish traditions and culture.
