ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Sum-free set

A sum-free set is like a group of friends who never have the same amount of money. Imagine you and two of your friends go to the store to buy some candy. Each of you has some money, let's say you have 3 dollars, and your friends have 4 and 5 dollars. If you add up all the money you have together, it's 3+4+5=12 dollars.

But if you have a sum-free set of friends, it means no two friends have the same amount of money. So if you and your two sum-free friends went to the store, you might have 3 dollars, one friend might have 5 dollars, and the other friend might have 7 dollars. If you add up all the money you have together, it's 3+5+7=15 dollars.

A sum-free set is like a special group of numbers that doesn't have any pairs of numbers that add up to another number in the set. So no two numbers in the set can be added together to get another number in the set. It's like having a group of friends where no two friends have the same amount of money.
