ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Supercruise

Supercruise is like when you are riding your bike and you go really fast without pedaling too hard.

Just like your bike, airplanes have engines that make them go. But some planes have something called "supercruise." This means that the plane can go really fast without using up too much fuel or making the engine work too hard.

It's like when you ride your bike downhill and you get to go super fast without doing much work. But the plane doesn't need a hill - it can go fast on flat ground! This is because the plane is designed to be super aerodynamic, which means it can slice through the air without using up too much energy.

Supercruise is important for planes used by the military because they need to be able to go really fast to catch bad guys or escape danger. But it's also helpful for regular passenger planes because it can save fuel and make the trip faster and smoother.

So, just like how you like to go fast on your bike without working too hard, planes can go fast with supercruise. Pretty cool, right?
