A superlens is a type of lens made from special materials that can focus light even better than a regular lens so it can see things that are normally too small. There are two kinds of superlenses: metalenses, which are made from tiny bits of metal, and nanolenses, which are made from very tiny nano-particles like nanotubes and nanowires. A regular lens can only focus light so far, but a superlens can focus light much more clearly and sharply so it can see things that are even smaller than a regular lens can, like tiny viruses or the electricity inside a tiny battery. Superlenses can help scientists learn more about the world by studying things that were too small to be seen before.
