ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Supersampling

Hey kiddo, have you ever played a video game and noticed that sometimes the pictures look kind of blurry or pixel-y? That's because sometimes the game has to make a lot of pictures appear on the screen all at once, and it can be hard to make them all look really clear and nice.

Supersampling is like having a really smart helper who looks at all the pictures the game is trying to show and makes them all look better. It's kind of like giving each picture a superhero costume - it's still the same picture, but now it looks really cool and clear.

The helper does this by making each picture bigger and then shrinking it down again, which might not sound like it would help but it actually does! This way, each little part of the picture gets more detail and looks better, and then the whole picture looks better too.

So when you play a game that uses supersampling, you might notice that everything looks extra bright and clear and it's easier to see all the little details. It's almost like a magic trick!
