Sushruta Samhita

Okay, so imagine you are playing doctor and you have a medical book that tells you how to fix different injuries or diseases. Sushruta Samhita is like a really old medical book from a really long time ago in India, before there were hospitals and modern medicine like we have today.

It was written by a man named Sushruta who was a very smart doctor in ancient India. He wrote down lots of different treatments and surgeries that he would use to help people who were sick or hurt. Some of these treatments were very simple, like putting a warm compress on a sore spot, and some of them were very complicated, like doing surgery to remove a tumor or fix a broken bone.

The book was written in a language called Sanskrit, which is different from the language we speak today, so not many people can read it without some help. But even though it's really old, lots of the treatments and surgeries that Sushruta wrote about are still used by doctors today. So it's kind of like a very old and important history book for doctors that tells them where some of their tools and ideas came from.
