Suspension of disbelief

Suspension of disbelief means when we allow ourselves to believe something even though we know it isn't real. For example, when someone is watching a movie or a show, they know that the characters and events are not real, but for the length of the movie or show, they 'suspend' their disbelief (they allow themselves to believe the characters and events are real) and become wrapped up in the story.
