Susquehannock people

Hey, kiddo! Do you want to know about the Susquehannock people? Well, the Susquehannock people were a Native American tribe that lived a long time ago in what we call Pennsylvania and Maryland today.

The Susquehannock people were very skilled at farming, hunting, and fishing. They grew crops like corn, beans, and squash in their fields and caught fish in the nearby rivers. They also hunted deer, bear, and other animals in the forest.

The Susquehannock people lived in longhouses, which were made of wood and bark. These houses were really long, like a train, and each one could hold many families. Inside each house, there were special areas for cooking, sleeping, and storing their things.

The Susquehannock people were also known for their amazing crafts. They made beautiful baskets, pottery, and other things from natural materials like wood, clay, and animal hides.

Unfortunately, the Susquehannock people had a tough time when European settlers came to their land. The settlers wanted to take over their territory and the Susquehannock people had to fight to protect their land and their lives. Eventually, the tribe was scattered and absorbed into other Native American groups.

Even though the Susquehannock people are not around anymore, we can still learn about their fascinating history and culture. We can appreciate their amazing skills and traditions and honor their legacy.
