ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Swahili language

Swahili is a language that some people in East Africa speak. It's like the way you talk in English, but different words and sounds are used.

Swahili has lots of words that come from other languages, like Arabic, German, Portuguese, and Hindi. People who speak Swahili might live in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda or other nearby countries. Swahili is an important language for people who live in East Africa, because it's used for trade, business, and communication between different groups of people.

In Swahili, some letters are pronounced differently than in English. For example, "ch" makes a sound like "che" in Spanish, and "ng" makes a sound like the "ng" in "song." Swahili also has many different ways to say the same thing, depending on what you're trying to say or who you're talking to.

Overall, Swahili is a really cool language that people use to connect with each other in East Africa!
