Now let’s imagine something similar but with oil production. The world needs oil to make cars go and planes fly, among other things. But not all countries are equally good at producing oil. Some countries have a lot of cheap oil, while others have to pay more to produce it.

Just like in the see-saw game, some countries have more power to influence the price of oil. And those countries who have the most power are called the “swing producers.” These countries can change how much oil they produce, which can make the price of oil go up or down.

For example, let’s say that a lot of countries are producing oil at the same time and the price of oil is low. But then one of the big swing producers, like Saudi Arabia, decides to stop producing so much oil. This means there is less oil available for everyone to buy, and the price of oil can go up.

So swing producers are basically countries that have a lot of power to influence the price of oil by changing how much they produce. Just like your biggest and strongest friend on the see-saw!
