Swingnose crossing

A swingnose crossing is like a big puzzle piece that helps different trains move safely over each other's tracks. Imagine you have two train tracks going in two different directions, like two trains passing each other. But sometimes, one train needs to move onto the other track to switch directions, and that's where the swingnose crossing comes in.

It's called a "swingnose" because one part of it can move like a nose, or a hinge, to help the trains switch tracks. One part of the crossing slides away, and the other part can move to the side, so the train can go over it safely. This is important because if the train tried to cross over a regular track, there could be a collision with another train coming from the other direction.

So, when the train needs to switch tracks, the signal tells the swingnose crossing to move its nose, and the train can safely go over it. After the train has passed, the nose swings back into place, and the train can continue on the new track. The swingnose crossing is like a special tool that helps trains safely travel on different tracks and get to where they need to go.
