ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Switch access

Switch access is a way for people who have trouble moving their body to control electronics. Usually, people use their hands to press buttons or move a mouse, but for some people that's difficult or impossible. So, switch access gives them another way to do it!

It works like this: you can think of a switch like a button you press down. When you press it, something happens - like a light turns on or a computer program starts. People who use switch access have big buttons they can push, tap with their head or foot, or even blow into with their mouth.

Electronic devices have a special setting called "switch access mode" that lets people control them by pressing their switch. For example, a person could use a switch to move a cursor on the screen, select an option, or even type letters. It takes a little practice to get good at it, but it's a really helpful way for people to interact with technology!
