ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Syncytium

A syncytium is like a big, blobby monster made up of lots of tiny cells that have all merged together. Think of it like a group of people holding hands and forming a really big chain.

These cells share their insides with each other, so it's like they're all living in one big room without any walls. This can make it easier for them to do certain jobs, like moving around or sharing nutrients.

Syncytia can be found in lots of different places in the body, like in the muscles of the heart or the placenta during pregnancy. They can help these tissues work better and do their important jobs.
