Systems of measurement

Systems of measurement are ways of measuring how long, wide, tall, heavy, or far something is or how much of something there is. We use different systems to measure things depending on where you live. For example, in the United States we use the customary system of measurement. This means we measure lengths in inches, feet, and miles; we measure weight in ounces and pounds; and we measure capacity in cups, pints, and gallons. Other countries use different measurement systems, like the metric system. This is used in places like Europe and Canada, and this system measures length in meters, weight in grams, and capacity in liters.
