ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

T cell deficiency

T cells are tiny soldiers in your body that help fight off bacteria and viruses that can make you sick. They are like soldiers that protect your body from bad guys.

However, some people have a T cell deficiency, which means they don't have enough T cells to do their job properly. It's like having an army with not enough soldiers. Without enough T cells, the body might not be able to fight off infections as well, and you can get sick more often.

There are many different reasons why someone might have a T cell deficiency. Some people are born with it, while others can develop it later in life. It can also be caused by certain medications, infections or diseases.

Fortunately, doctors can do tests to check T cell levels in the blood and, if necessary, they can give medicine or other treatments to help boost T cell numbers in the body.

So it's important to keep our tiny soldiers healthy and protect them from any harm, to make sure they can fight to keep us healthy too!
