ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

TVET (technical and vocational education and training)

TVET stands for Technical and Vocational Education and Training. This is where people learn specific skills or trades that will help them get a job. Think of it like going to school to learn how to do something with your hands or mind that people will pay you for.

For example, let's say you like to fix things around the house. You could go to TVET to learn how to be a plumber or electrician. Or let's say you like to cook. You could go to TVET to learn how to be a chef.

Some people go to TVET instead of regular school because they want to start working and making money faster. Others go to TVET after regular school because they want to learn a specific skill to help them get a job that they are interested in.

TVET can take place in different types of schools. Sometimes it's at a special school that only teaches TVET subjects. Other times it's at a regular school but they have TVET classes you can take.

In TVET, teachers will show you how to do things step by step. They will also help you practice doing these things so that you get better at them. Once you finish TVET, you will have a certificate or diploma to show that you know how to do the skill you learned. This can help you find a job and make money!
