ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Taligent

Okay kiddo, today we're going to learn about Taligent. Taligent was a company that made computer software a long time ago. They made software that helped computers do things like organize files or run programs. They wanted to make really good software that was easy for people to use.

Taligent thought it would be a good idea to make software that could work on lots of different types of computers. They called this idea "object-oriented programming" which basically means they wanted to make software that could be used on many different types of computers and devices, like a phone or a tablet.

But making software that could work on lots of different devices turned out to be pretty tricky. Taligent worked really hard on it, but they were eventually bought out by another company before they could finish their project.

Even though Taligent isn't around anymore, their ideas still inspire people in the tech industry today. They taught us that it's important to make software that can work on lots of different devices so that everyone can use it easily.
