Talkback (recording)

Okay kiddo, so when you watch a TV show or movie and you hear the actors' voices, have you ever wondered how those sounds got into the show or movie? Well, sometimes the voices are recorded separately from the video, and that process is called talkback recording.

First, the actors say their lines by themselves in a quiet room with special microphones that can pick up their voices really well. These microphones are connected to a machine that records the sounds.

After the actors finish recording all their lines, someone called an audio engineer listens to the sounds and makes sure they are all clear and easy to understand. Then, they put the sounds back into the video, so it looks like the actors are speaking while the cameras are filming them.

This helps make sure the voices are really good quality and can be heard easily, even if there's background noise or other distractions while filming. That way, when people watch the show or movie, they can enjoy it without any problems understanding what the characters are saying.
