ELI5: Explain Like I'm 5

Tame manifold

Okay, kiddo, so there is this thing called a manifold, which is like a shape that can be curved or flat, and has different parts that fit together. Sometimes, these manifolds can be wild and crazy and hard to understand, with lots of twists and turns that make them difficult to study.

But, if we are lucky, we might find a special kind of manifold called a "tame" manifold. This means that it is much easier for us to understand and work with because it is like a nice, simple shape that we can easily see and study.

Think of it like trying to put together a puzzle with lots of complicated, jumbled up pieces. It can be really hard to figure out where everything goes! But, if you have a puzzle with big, easy to see pieces that fit together neatly, like a basic kid's jigsaw, it's much simpler to put together.

So a tame manifold is basically like the kid's puzzle version of a manifold - it's easy to understand and study because it's not all wild and crazy like some other manifolds can be.
