Tamil (Unicode block)

Tamil is a language that is spoken in southern India and parts of Sri Lanka. Just like English uses the Latin alphabet, Tamil uses its own special writing system. This writing system is made up of special characters, which are like little pictures that represent different sounds in the Tamil language.

One way of making sure that all devices and computers can display Tamil characters correctly is by using the Tamil Unicode block. Think of a Unicode block as a big library of characters that can be used to display text from different languages. The Tamil Unicode block is a section of this library that contains all the different Tamil characters.

When someone types in Tamil on their computer or phone, the software will look for the specific Tamil characters in the Unicode block and use them to display the text correctly. This makes it possible for people to share and read Tamil text online or on different devices, no matter where they are in the world.
